Monument Valley Movie Stills

Many people think that John Ford's "Stagecoach" (1939) was the first movie made in Monument Valley. However, Dave Holland, the organizer of the annual "Lone Pine Film Festival," says in his video that the silent movie "The Vanishing American" (1925) was shot there.

I bought a copy of "The Vanishing American" and made the stills below from it. As you can see . . . looks like Dave is right.
